NYPD: Officer hit by car during traffic stop in Concourse Village; suspect at large

Police say they tried to stop a black Mercedes-Benz at 1680 Clay St. for running a red light around 5 p.m., but the driver fled.

The NYPD says a police officer was hit by a car Tuesday night during a traffic stop in Concourse Village.
Police say they tried to stop a black Mercedes-Benz at 1680 Clay St. for running a red light around 5 p.m., but the driver fled.
The NYPD says they followed the car and attempted to stop it again and that's when the driver reversed and hit the officer.
According to police, the officer suffered a knee injury and pain in their back and hands.
Police say after the officer was struck, they found the black car abandoned with no one inside.
The injured officer is expected to make a full recovery.
Police ask anyone with information on the suspect to call them.
