One year has passed since NYPD Detective Dennis Guerra died from injuries he sustained while responding to a fire in Coney island.
Guerra succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning and the effects of smoke inhalation when he and his partner ran into a burning building on Surf Avenue back on April 6 of last year.
Marcell Dockery allegedly told police he started the fire because he was bored. He now faces several charges, including murder.
However, the 16-year-old's defense attorney says he denies the initial confession and claims he was forced to admit to the crime during interrogation.
