The NYPD detectives met the drivers whom they helped out of a flooded Major Deegan Expressway Thursday night.
The detectives told News 12 they brought in a barrier truck to rescue 10 motorists from car to car.
"I'm telling you, I thought I was going right into that water, I don't know -- three pairs of hands -- I don't know where they came from, but those officers lift me up like I was a feather," Sheila Young recalled.
"I actually help extricate those two females out of their vehicle. They were actually standing on my pants and my boots trying to have a grip, and I was just trying to keep them calm as much as possible," said officer Daniel Bergman.
Young also shared advice to avoid a situation like the one she faced.
"Listen to your gut, if it doesn't look safe, don't go through that water," she said.
