NYPD: Parking dispute, punch in face led to man’s death in East Flatbush

A fight over a parking space Saturday night led to the death of an East Flatbush man, the NYPD says.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. inside a gas station at 1143 Clarkson Ave. and Rockaway Parkway .

Police say a 30-year-old male tow truck driver punched 61-year-old Carlyle Thomas in the face after not moving his car.

Thomas was transported to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The unnamed 30-year-old was taken into custody.

According to a police release, responding officers learned that the fight involved a parking dispute with the tow truck driver, but did not elaborate on the details.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
