NYPD: Pedestrian fatally struck in violent Williamsburg crash

A 49-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Williamsburg on Friday afternoon, according to the NYPD.
Police say the victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital from the scene before he died.
Surveillance video from the scene shows a verbal altercation between the driver and victim at the stoplight at South Fifth Street and Keap Street.
The black SUV begins to reverse at an angle before jetting out at the victim and one other nearby pedestrian, striking the 49-year-old man directly and grazing a man in a black hoodie with the nose of the vehicle. The victim can be seen pinned under the vehicle with his body rolling several times. The man in the hoodie chased after the car as it drives away from the scene.
“That’s what’s going on right now, people just snuffing people out for no reason,” said local resident Kevin. “And the way times are right now, we just gotta be diligent, be mindful of where we’re at, who we’re around and why we’re around there.”
Police say that no arrests have been made at this time, and the identity of the driver of the vehicle is unknown.
