Police are investigating a fatal stabbing outside of the Atlantic Terminal Mall on Friday at the intersection of Atlantic and Flatbush avenues.
Police say around 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man that was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen in the crosswalk outside of the mall.
The man, who has not yet been identified publicly, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say a large group were gathered in the area prior to the stabbing and that multiple people fled from the scene following the attack.
Community Board 8 Chair Brian Saunders says he has heard complaints from residents about large groups of teens gathering in the area on Friday nights.
"I feel like this was preventable. You see these groups forming…It's chaos," he says. “I'd like to see this like Times Square where we have a police substation, and we need more youth programming here to redirect this energy."
Police have not yet released any details about the victim.
