The NYPD is stepping up security across the city following a deadly bus explosion in Bulgaria Wednesday.
The bus was carrying Israeli tourists when it burst into flames, killing several people. Bulgaria's prime minister says the suspected suicide attacker carried a fake Michigan driver's license.
In a statement, a spokesperson said, "The NYPD has redeployed its critical response vehicles, which comprise part of the department's daily counter-terrorism posture, to focus on Jewish neighborhoods and institutions as a precaution in the wake of the attack in Bulgaria." Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) says residents should be on the lookout for anything suspicious, especially after a string of recent anti-Semitic attacks in Jewish communities around the borough.
