The NYPD is asking for the public's help in identifying a man they believe to be the suspect in an attempted robbery and stabbing in Bushwick.
Police say the suspect in the picture reached into a parked car and attempted to steal a backpack with the driver still inside. Police say the driver attempted to retrieve the backpack from the suspect and an argument broke out, at which time the suspect stabbed the driver in the stomach and fled.
The incident unfolded around 11 a.m. on Nov. 6 at 860 Jefferson St.
Nearby residents said they were alarmed that in the month since the attack, no arrest has been made.
"Going into our home is supposed to be a safe place, and I guess it can just be very unsafe, and this happened literally in front of our doorstep, and the fact he could be walking around here still is pretty terrifying," said resident Sam Abe.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the released photo is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
