NYPD returns its robotic police dog after backlash from city leaders

The NYPD announced that it has returned its controversial robotic police dog known as “Digidog” to its manufacturer.
Police officials say the department ended its contract last week with Boston Dynamics to lease the robot.
City Council leaders issued a subpoena after images of the robot went viral as it patrolled a Manhattan housing project.
The NYPD paid $94,000 to lease the robot.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has also asked the NYPD to reconsider using the robot.
