Police are trying to find a woman from Highbridge who authorities say has been missing for three weeks.
Nicosha Gayle, the 28-year-old mother who is missing, was last seen leaving her apartment building on Anderson Avenue on March 6.
Her mother, Marion Carter, says she hasn’t been able to sleep since her daughter went missing. For the past several months, Carter says her daughter has been battling with substance abuse and mental illness, but that she would always contact Carter if out for longer than one day.
“It’s just a frightening moment,” said Carter. “It’s not like her. She has no change in clothes, no money, she could be in the hospital as a Jane Doe.”
Carter says the detective assigned to her daughter’s case told her they were working to track down her daughter’s cellphone signal and to collect additional surveillance video from the area. She says that her missing daughter has a large rose tattoo on her thigh and a footprint tattoo that starts on her neck and runs down her back.
“She’s just lost somewhere out there… I just need her back,” said Carter.
