NYPD: Suspect arrested for slamming MTA conductor's head against train wall
Police say they arrested the suspect linked to an early morning assault at a Bronx subway station.
According to police, NYPD officers responded to the Whitlock and Westchester subway station at midnight Thursday for a report of an assault.
Police say a male conductor was in the train at the station when he stuck his head out the window to make an announcement and the suspect slammed the conductor's head into the train wall. The suspect also allegedly punched the conductor and fled the scene.
The conductor was transported to treatment for minor injuries. Police say the victim recognized Bonneau and that they had a prior incident.
Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Ahmad Bonneau from the Bronx and arrested him at his residence. Bonneau is being charged with assault.
NYC Transit interim president Craig Cipriano released a statement saying, “Our concern is foremost for the conductor and his rapid recovery from this outrageous unprovoked attack. What’s just as egregious is that a suspect with a history of predatory behavior wasn’t sufficiently addressed by the justice system and was allowed to continue the violence. Enough. Thanks to the NYPD, he was quickly arrested again and now it’s up to prosecutors and courts to do their jobs to end the madness.”
