Medical examiner: 2 dead in vehicle fire near Split Rock Golf Course both died from gunshots

The two victims who were found dead inside a car on fire Monday morning may have been shot, according to police.

The medical examiner has determined that two people found dead in a car fire near Split Rock Golf Course in the Bronx were killed by gunshot wounds.
The victims, one man and one woman, both suffered gunshot wounds to the head. The man suffered another gunshot wound to the chest, while the woman suffered a second gunshot wound to the neck.
Police responded to this incident just after 4 a.m. Monday and observed a Honda Accord on the side of Shore Road near Pelham Split Rock Course engulfed in flames. FDNY extinguished the fire and found the two victims inside the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
