Detectives say a woman was killed and her brother injured during a late Wednesday night shooting in Fordham.
Police say officers were called to East 194th Street and Marion Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after shots were fired. They say they arrived to find two victims had been shot.
According to police, a 31-year-old man had multiple gun shots on his body while his sister, 29-year-old Kathryn Diop, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say her brother is in stable condition. They say that they used a tourniquet on him when they arrived at the scene.
Camille Miguel is a family friend who was at a celebration that Diop was having with her family for the victim's sister's graduation.
"I held her while she took her last breath. She got shot five times," Miguel said.
Police say an argument over a trip to a bodega led to the shooting.
"They were arguing in the store, they came out the store and it escalated, and then guy came and shot them as they were walking across the street," Miguel said. She added that Diop's family is devastated. "They're really sad because it's like her sister just graduated, the summer just started, we're open. We're really sad over something that was so petty, the arguing."
No arrests have been made.
Anyone who may have any information is being asked to call police.
