A teenager from New Jersey is dead, and another is in the hospital, after a shooting in Harlem Tuesday afternoon, police say.
The NYPD responded to a call about shots fired around 4:30 p.m. at 112 East 128th Street. That’s where they found the 14-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head, as well as a 15-year-old who was shot in the leg.
Both were taken to the hospital, where the 14-year-old was pronounced dead. The other victim is in stable condition.
Police identified the 14-year-old as Justin Streeter from New Jersey. Officers say he was gunned down just steps away from a local school in Harlem.
There have been no arrests at this hour and the police are asking for the public’s help with finding the shooter.
At this time, police say they do not know if the teens knew the shooter, but they do believe the kids were targeted.
