A support group at NYU Lutheran Family Health Centers is reminding cancer patients that they're not alone.
The group consists of patients who are just starting their journey in the fight against cancer and those who have survived. The support group meets on the third Thursday of every month to share stories and take advice from health care professionals.
"This group was formed so that we could give them information and support them and show them that we care about what happened to them," says group founder Violeta Maya.
Doctors say lifting the spirits and attitude of cancer patients helps the recovery process.
The next scheduled meeting is on Nov. 17.
