New York University students have been awarded $1 million for winning a competition to design a smart gun.
Borough President Eric Adams announced the winners of the Smart Gun Design Competition Monday, awarding $1 million to Sy Cohen, Ashwin Raj Kumar, Eddilene Paola Cordero Pardo and Jonathan Ng of NYU.
The team of students designed the gun to include fingerprints and voice recognition.
Adams created the competition as a way to try to cut down on gun violence in the borough.
