The iconic fishing pier in Ocean Grove is set to get a new look.
The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association broke ground Saturday on plans to rebuild the part of the pier that Hurricane Sandy destroyed.
The money to rebuild it comes from a three-year fundraising drive.
"This will be a stronger pier than we've had ever before. It'll go up an additional seven feet above wave height. It will have a 40% opening to let water energy through without destroying it," said Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association President Michael Badger.
Once finished, Badger said the pier will be able to withstand storms even stronger than Sandy.
