An off-duty officer is being recognized for scaring off a group of apparent thieves who stabbed a worker at a Crown Heights tire store. 
According to police, three men attacked an 18-year-old at the Monday Tire Shop on East New York Avenue. The teen was changing a tire when the suspects jumped him and stabbed him in the back. 
Investigators say the officer was nearby and fired his weapon into the air, causing the suspects to run off. 
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
