The disciplinary trial for the two officers involved in the death of Kawaski Trawick in 2019 continues Friday with firsthand testimony followed by closing arguments.

According to the Civilian Complaint Review Board, that testimony will be coming from the officers themselves. Closing arguments will be submitted in written form rather than orally to the court. 

The Civilian Complaint Review Board told News 12 they disagree with the decision to allow written testimony.

This is all in response to the incident on April 14, 2019, when the NYPD officers tased and fatally shot Trawick after responding to a distress call, killing the 32-year-old inside of his own home.

On Thursday, a former officer testified that protocol wasn't followed.

Trawick's mother, Ellen Trawick, says her son didn't do anything wrong and that he just wanted the officers to leave.

"My family and I have always known from the first time that we've seen that video, Kawaski should be here today. Kawaski did not commit a crime. Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis took Kawaski's life," Ellen says.

If found guilty of misconduct charges, the officers could face disciplinary penalties including the possibility of termination.
