Six people were arrested and more than 120,000 pills were recovered after a joint task force took down a Bronx-based illegal prescription drug ring on Wednesday.
The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Department Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were all part of raids at four locations in the borough. Federal authorities say the confiscated pills were distributed across the country and include Percocet, Xanax, Ecstacy and Viagra.
According to officials, one of the raids took place in an apartment where the defendant operated a day care center. They say several thousand pills were found, along with packaging materials, shipping labels and envelopes. The six men arrested have each been charged with one count of conspiracy to violate U.S. drug laws. They face up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine if convicted.
