Officials, advocates rally demanding end to shelter evictions

Those rallying say Mayor Eric Adams’ 30-day and 60-day shelter limits are displacing vulnerable New Yorkers, including thousands of school-aged children.

Advocates and some elected officials rallied to demand an end to shelter evictions on Wednesday.
The rally took place at Audubon Park in Washington Heights. Those rallying say Mayor Eric Adams’ 30-day and 60-day shelter limits are displacing vulnerable New Yorkers, including thousands of school-aged children.
New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, public advocate Jumaane Williams and Councilmembers Alexa Avilés, Shahana Hanif, Carmen De La Rosa are all expected to participate in the event.
