A student has been charged, and authorities are zeroing in on a Snapchat group that allegedly instigated a cluster of frightening fights at Pine Bush High School this week.
A Pine Bush mother, whose son was involved in one of the fights, tells News 12 that there’s much more going on than what people might think or see from viewing the videos.
She says her son is being bullied, threatened and incited to react by students in school and online.
“The other young man that was fighting in the bathroom had a bounty on my son,” says the mother who asked not to be identified. “He sent it out on Snapchat.”
She gave News 12 screen shots of a Snapchat group that she says is provoking the fights for social media attention among students in a group of kids online called “Pine Bush Instigators.”

“I don’t understand how my son is the problem person, but yet there are kids actually saying that they are going to pay people if they can beat my son," she says.
The woman says her son is suspended until next week and was arrested Friday for misdemeanor assault – which police have confirmed.
News 12 talked to another parent who also didn’t want to be identified out of fear for her student.
She says whatever has been done so far to address the issue is not enough.
“My main concern is the lack of security. My son doesn’t feel safe," she says.
School officials say they are aware of that chat room and its alleged role in the latest cluster of fights.
They say a subpoena has been issued to find out who is behind the page and that steps are being taken to crack down on the violence, including increasing security, requiring students remain seated at lunch and limiting hall passes.
