Councilman David Greenfield and several city officials are renewing calls for the MTA to restore express F train service from South Brooklyn to Manhattan.
"The reality is that the F train is one of the worst trains in New York City," Greenfield says. "It is consistently late, it's consistently delayed."
Restored express F train service in South Brooklyn would be critical for people in Midwood, Borough Park, Bensonhurst and Gravesend, whose commutes to Manhattan can take an hour or more.
"We want to make sure that we get our fair share here in southern Brooklyn, and that money needs to include funds for an upgrade for an F express," Greenfield says.
Greenfield, who has been working on restoring express F train service for three years, is also urging the MTA to make good on its promise to release a report it conducted on the matter.
Express train service was removed from South Brooklyn in the 1970s because of track repairs, the MTA says.
