Officials draft additional plan to assess harm to natural resources in Gowanus Canal

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is currently working to clean up the canal, but the plan is not designed to compensate for past, present and future injuries to natural resources.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation and federal officials are planning to formally assess how much harm the contamination has caused for natural resources in Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is currently working to clean up the canal, but the plan is not designed to compensate for past, present and future injuries to natural resources.

This is where Gowanus Canal Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustee Council comes into play, and they are looking for community feedback. Resident can check the draft of their plan here and submit their input.
