A 56-year-old woman is in the hospital after the elevator she was in disconnected from the cables and fell multiple stories.

The incident occurred in her East Flatbush apartment building, located at 305 Linden Ave.

The FDNY says the woman suffered injuries to her leg and ankle after that elevator dropped unexpectedly.

A notice from the city now sits in front of the entrance to that elevator, alerting residents of a safety violation.

Residents say this isn’t the first issue they’ve had with elevators in the building.

“The door won't fully close… it just stays there for a little bit, and it doesn't make any movement. So, I get kind of scared… I take the stairs instead,” said resident Kelly-Ann McGregor.

The accident left one wing of the six-story building without a functioning elevator, and tenants say this poses a major issue for seniors in the building.
