As the heat index soars past 100 degrees, officials are urging New Yorkers to stay indoors with air conditioning.
Those without air conditioning are advised to go to a cooling center such as a senior center or public library.
Authorities have extended cooling center hours and pool and park hours throughout the weekend.
News 12 spoke with some families in Marine Park who say they ventured outside so their kids could enjoy a refreshing splash in the sprinklers.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s Monday, but it should be less humid.
