Officials: Vehicle hits building, 7 pedestrians in Longwood

Officers say the driver was reversing but hit his gas pedal instead of his brakes, causing the vehicle to go up onto the curb.

Police say a driver accelerated onto a curb in Longwood, striking seven pedestrians and a building.
Officers say the driver was reversing but hit his gas pedal instead of his brakes, causing the vehicle to go up onto the curb. The vehicle then struck seven people and the salon located at 854 East 163rd St.
The FDNY told News 12 that of the seven pedestrians that were struck, five have serious injuries. 
Police have made no arrests at this time.
The seven people who were struck are expected to be OK, according to the NYPD.
The Department of Buildings is actively conducting a structural stability inspection on the building.
