The old, vacant armory building on Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights is being transformed and restored.
The century-old Bedford Union Armory will be turned into affordable housing, a place for recreation and a community center.
The New York City Economic Development Corporation, along with elected officials, announced the team Thursday that will redevelop the 500,000-square-foot Armory into a commercial and residential facility.
It will include basketball courts, a swimming pool and an indoor turf field to give young people a place to hang out.
The project will also provide almost 800 construction jobs, as well as permanent positions.
Funded by the borough president and developers, the Bedford Armory Project is expected to be completed by 2020.
