A pastor and his wife are holding an event at their church in Old Westbury Sunday.
Pastor Justin Vetrano and his wife Neina Vetrano will be talking about their recent trip to help Ukrainian refugees.
They spent nearly a week in Romania helping thousands of people escaping their war-torn county.
Neina Vetrano says there about 40 to 50 cars on each ferry and the amount of people could be from 100 to 500.
"I had this girl, she told me, 'I just want to tell you, this is the first time in a week that I am shaking and trembling, not because I'm scared of the bombs and the explosions, but because I'm so moved by what you are all doing here,'" Neina Vetrano says. "We both just started crying and embraced."
A bunch of food, clothing and medical supplies were donated, but the Vetranos say the people really needed a place to go and transportation to get them there.
The Vetranos say in many cases, refugees left behind spouses, parents or children.
The event will be held at the Life Lutheran Church, which is raising money for the refugees.
