They've been a staple in the community for 26 years and there's another family business right down the corner on this hair salon and it doubles as a wellness spot, a hair salon with a twist, busy day. I know, but you got to end with the treat. So head over to Hibiscus brews. You don't really find a lot of hibiscus or sorrel drink on the market. At least like this. There's the problem. 730 comes around on Thursdays. I'm always stuffed because we have Winston here who's been feeding us all morning. And now finally the finale, we get to taste the be the Barbados national dish. What is it? The bar national dish is C and flying fish. It's made with cornmeal and okra and a little salt and this seasons to make it taste real good. And when you take a bite of it, what does it bring you back to? What does it remind you of? 00, of course. B and M it is just like it's done here and I mean, seeing you and your wife cooking it in the back. It was really quite the process. Very impressive. That's a good thing because the porridge here is one of their best sellers. And luckily, speaking of best sellers, I'm here with Winston, the mastermind behind this Beijing cuisine. H now Winston, you said when you first came to Brooklyn, you really felt the need to bring Beijing cuisine to no Avenue in Brooklyn in general. But I became the point that I found I was able to use it to the best advantage. And you guys have been here 26 years. That's a long time. What's the secret to keeping the business alive? Gee, that's work, work and more work. That's what it is. Nothing but work hard work. And I can see that in the making of your pastries, right? So we have here guys, we have four different pastries that you guys are known for. Choose your fighter. Which one are you taking tonight? I'm going to take the crescent roll. Our news 12 Julia Joseph already had her breakfast and now Julia, you've moved down the block to Hibiscus Brew where they have some incredible breast cancer awareness month initiatives going on Julia. So who do you have there with you? You have some company? Yes, I have. Alison done with me, the owner of Hibiscus Brew and I have CC here as well. I didn't get the pink memo. I'm sporting my sea foam green for the New York Liberty, right? But Alison's gonna tell us now about kind of the makeup of this cafe and why it's so special to the community. Thank you Julia. So I'm Alison Dunn, I'm the founder of Hibiscus Brew, a Wellness cafe located here in Prospect Leer's Gardens. And we have been open for about four years in the community. Bring in Wellness. We try to bring a slice of Jamaica through our Sorrel Hibiscus drink that we have right here that we use in a lot of our recipes, including our smoothies and, and drinks and those smoothies you're talking about. There's an awesome collab going on right now. So that's where we bring in CCCC. Give us a little rundown. So I'm the founder of Cocoa by Cece. This is our self love scrub. Smells really good and the self love smoothie at Hibiscus Brew is inspired by this scrub. We are both supporting breast cancer awareness month. So our scrub is pink. The smoothie is pink, both are vegan and made with amazing ingredients like coconut cream and the Hibiscus grape and the Hibiscus glaze. Amazing. And I think the smoothie is delicious too.
