A triple shooting in a Cypress Hills apartment building left one man dead and two others injured late Monday night. Police are still searching for the shooter as they investigate what led to the violence.

Authorities say gunfire erupted just before 11 p.m. inside 2777 Atlantic Ave. Officers arrived to find three men shot inside the building. A 65-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, while a 60-year-old man was shot in the arm and stomach. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. A third man, who was shot in the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shattered glass from a balcony door and bullet holes in a nearby window were visible from the street, evidence of the gunfire that tore through the seventh-floor apartment. Neighbors described waking up to a crime scene, with blood still visible in the building.

"There’s still blood in the elevator," said Xue Wu, a resident. "I just heard a really loud boom, but I kind of hear cracks every now and then so it's not out of the ordinary."

Investigators have not yet released the identity of the man killed or a possible motive for the shooting.
