One dead, two workers injured in Midwood house explosion

At least one worker is dead after an explosion at a residential Midwood home Tuesday. According to police, the workers were waterproofing the basement of the East 31st Street house when an explosion occurred.

At least one worker is dead after an explosion at a residential Midwood home Tuesday. According to police, the workers were waterproofing the basement of the East 31st Street house when an explosion occurred. Firefighters say the workers were using a type of epoxy sealant that was flammable. When one of the workers turned on a power tool, it caused the explosion. Two other men were rushed from the scene with 85 percent burns to their bodies. Five firefighters also suffered minor injuries while battling the fire that resulted from the explosion.
