If you love being outside as the weather warms up, now is a great time to take advantage of the return of open streets on Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights.
Several blocks along Vanderbilt Avenue are closed to traffic starting Friday. The road will remain closed to car traffic until 10 p.m.
According to the Vanderbilt Open Streets Committee, the street will be closed to traffic on the weekend from noon to 10 p.m. The committee says a variety of programming will be offered.
This is the fourth year of open streets. Organizers say this weekend is in honor of Earth Day. There will be plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy as well as festivities with live music to kick off the start of open streets.
