An organization dedicated to mentoring at-risk youth has cut the ribbon on their violence-interrupter center in District 45.
Shanduke McPhatter is the founder of Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes, Inc., or GMACC. McPhatter says that he created GMACC in an effort to hopefully stop the cycle of violence.
The new crisis-management center will serve as a hub for support and mediation. The group is receiving support from community members and leaders.
McPhatter says the organization will do whatever it takes to stop violence in the community.
