The West Indian American Day Carnival Association credits the success of this year's event on police presence.
Organizers say they had had the full support of the NYPD, and that parade volunteers worked more closely with police than ever before.
They say there were many meetings with the NYPD, and everyone worked successfully with the department to keep the carnival safe.
Last year, two people were fatally stabbed at the parade, and a man was shot to death in 2011.
