There will soon be a state-of-the-art music facility in Williamsburg designed to nurture new talent.
Nonprofit "Original Music Workshop" raised $16 million to finish construction on what used to be a sawdust factory. The organization rebuilt the old warehouse but retained its brick walls.
Founder Kevin Dolan says the goal of the space is to be a haven for emerging artists, who he says especially struggle to navigate their way through the ever-changing music industry. The facility will house a 24-7 rehearsal recording hall, a performance hall and a 70-person restaurant, among other things.
The venue is expected to open its doors in the fall of 2015.
