Some Ossining Metro-North station commuters can get a COVID-19 vaccine on the go as the MTA opened eight new pop-up vaccinations sites on Wednesday.

Riders can get the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. through Sunday. The schedule could expand if the incentive is successful.

Shots are also being offered at Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal.

Walk-ins are welcome on a first come, first serve basis. No appointments are needed.

The pop-up sites are open through Sunday.

And if you get a shot, you can get two free one-way train tickets.

These pop-up vaccination sites come at a pivotal time as more people return to the office.

"Oh, I think they're fantastic ideas. This gives people that are busy on the go a chance to get that shot, get on the train and go to work," says Bill Dixon, of Ossining.

In fact, the MTA says ridership has hit a pandemic high. The agency says there were more than 83,000 trips taken on the Metro-North on Friday. That’s the railroad’s highest single-day ridership total since the start of the pandemic in the state. The MTA says it's seeing ridership grow agency wide as the LIRR, New York City subways, and city buses are all seeing record highs this month.
