Thousands of boys and girls set up at tents at the Fairgrounds Friday night for the largest scouting event in the state called ConnJam 2022.
Opening night Friday featured a concert with different types of performers.
Over 2,000 scouts will be in attendance. This year is one of the largest ConnJams they've had since the event started in 2009.
Scouts from all troops and ages in southwestern Connecticut will participate in the three-day weekend of festivities hosted by Connecticut Yankee Council.
Scouts will be able to participate in activities like frisbee, scuba and zip lining.
Organizers say after years without ConnJam due to COVID, they're giving scouts the ultimate weekend of activities and bonding.
"Every three years the Connecticut Yankee Council gathers all of its scouts and their families for a celebration of scouting and in this case, we're rekindling scouting's adventure because over the last several years we've all been through a lot. So were reigniting the flames and passion for scouting that all of us have and that young people need today," said Bob Brown, of Boy Scouts of America.
It's not too late to register. Organizers say you can arrive Saturday morning to register. For more information, click
