'They're coming out looking half dead.' ACC says about 80 dogs rescued from Mill Basin home

Animal Care Centers of New York Center says about 80 dogs were rescued from a Mill Basin home on East 66th Street.
ACC, the medical examiner, police and ASPCA were at the scene.
Police say just before 6:45 a.m. Thursday, they got a call to the house and the 73-year-old female homeowner was found dead inside.
The ACC says the dogs are not in great shape and are being taken to their Queens facility to be examined by a veterinarian.
News 12 spoke with neighbor Leeora Bernstein, who said she could hear barking from the house and smell it.
“It’s terrible. You can't even walk by here. Walking out, you could smell like urine," said Bernstein.
Other neighbors, like Alexander Zinger, say they've complained about it for years.
“We’ve been telling them how bad it smelled, how problematic this whole thing was for the neighborhood, for the children. These animals haven’t seen the light of day for decades," said Zinger.
News 12 reached out to police and the ASPCA about these complaints, but have not yet heard back.
The Animal Care Centers of New York City says after the dogs are examined, they'll be available for adoption. They say Bobbi and the Strays and ASPCA are just a few of the rescue groups taking them in.
Police say the woman's cause of death is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
