Residents at a Prospect Heights apartment building are displaced after a fire tore through the top floors overnight, forcing everyone inside to evacuate.
Firefighters were called to 425 Sterling Place just before 9 p.m. Thursday after reports of a fire on the roof, according to Fire Department of the City of New York.
Crews arrived quickly, but as flames spread, a second alarm was called about 25 minutes later. Firefighters were able to knock the fire down around 10:09 p.m., and had it fully under control by 10:34 p.m.
The good news is officials say no injuries were reported.
By Friday morning, windows on the building were boarded up, and a full vacate order from the Department of Buildings was posted on the front door — meaning residents are not allowed back inside for now.
Fire marshals are investigating what sparked the blaze.
