A 7-year-old girl was stranded on Manhattan Beach during a field trip after her teacher and bus took off without her, according to her parents.
Ketesha Cofield, the girl's mother, has since pulled her daughter from classes at P.S. 213 in East New York and is now asking the school for answers.
According to school officials, the girl was granted permission by her teacher to throw something in the garbage just minutes before her class boarded a school bus to head back to P.S. 213, but when the girl turned around, her parents say she found herself left behind and could not find her teacher, classmates or the bus.
Luckily, another teacher on the field trip spotted the child and placed her on another bus.
However, Cofield argues that her daughter's teacher never called her to alert her about the incident.
The Department of Education released a statement saying, "Nothing is more important than the safety and security of all students and staff. We are investigating the incident and have protocol in place to ensure it is addressed appropriately."
Cofield says she wishes the teacher does not lose their job, but is instead retrained.
