Some Brownsville parents are demanding crossing guards at their children's school, more than a month after classes started.
According to parents from P.S. 41, they are still waiting for a guard on Thatford Avenue, and have complained to 311 and the 73rd Precinct. One mother says the local precinct admitted that it was short 15 crossing guards. News 12 Brooklyn reached out to police about the problem and was told that there is coverage at the school for arrival and dismissal. But News 12 cameras were at the school early this morning and there wasn't a crossing guard or police officer in sight. However, a few officers arrived after school was in session. The NYPD careers website states that the 73rd Precinct is actively recruiting crossing guards.
