Four early education centers in Brooklyn that were set to close at the end of this year are getting lease extensions.
“We want to center our priorities around what the community needs. We heard from the community that they need those programs,” said Simone Hawkins, deputy chancellor for early childhood education.
An information session was held at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum on Saturday to educate parents on what these centers have to offer this school year.
“We just wanted to explore what was available to be able to make the, you know, comparison and make the best decision for our child,” said Miguelina Diaz, parent.
Through this information session she was able to find the best fit for her kid.
“They have a robotics program, and I didn't know that existed for a 3-year-old or pre-K. So that definitely caught my eye...We need to check them out,” said Diaz.
Enrollment for the early childhood education centers ends on Feb. 28.
