More than a hundred firefighters converged on a Park Slope block Saturday to battle a two-alarm fire.
Residents were initially trapped inside the burning building at 236 12th St., but everyone was able to escape in time. One resident and one firefighter were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Authorities say the flames sparked on the second floor of the building, although the cause is unclear.
Several families have been displaced as a result of the fire.
A fire chief at the scene told News 12 that such fires have the potential for much greater damage. "To contain a fire in these types of buildings is a very difficult task.. They are all attached frame buildings with the potential to expand all the way around the block, and the guys did a great job of stopping that."
