Members of the Park Slope Food Co-op decided yesterday to bypass a boycott on Israeli-made products. More than 1,000 people turned down a referendum that would have required the co-op to cast additional votes over the future of Israeli goods. Some members say they favored the boycott because they wanted to put economic pressure on Israel to remove their settlements from Palestinian territory. Others say the protest was anti-Israel from the beginning. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Brooklyn residents should not discourage business with Israel, a sentiment echoed by Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
