The 44th St. Patrick's Day Parade kicked off in Park Slope on Sunday.
The parade took place at Prospect Park West and 15th Street.
Bernadette Buckley Kash said she marched in the first parade, and this year she was honored as the grand marshal.
“I have been marching in this for 44 years, and to be the grand marshal at this point in time is so unbelievable. It's just overwhelming,” said Kash. “I know my parents are so happy.”
Many attendees said it's important to have parades like this one to pass down Irish culture and tradition to the younger generation.
The Brooklyn Irish LGBTQ organization said that it was overwhelmed that they were part of the festivities this year.
The parade also held a rededication ceremony that honors the heroes and victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.
