Dozens of parents protested Tuesday over a plan to move a middle school inside a high-achieving Park Slope elementary school.
Parents held signs and raised their voices outside a downtown Brooklyn courthouse. They say the Department of Education's plan to move a new school, focusing on Arab language and culture, inside P.S. 282 is a bad idea. Critics say the DOE cut sixth grade from the school, so they don't understand how another school will fit inside the building. Parents also raise safety concerns over having very young and older children using the same bathrooms and facilities.
The DOE plans to move the Khalil Gibran International Academy into the Park Slope school by September.
