? Straphangers have mixed feelings about Brooklyn train stations getting surveillance cameras, which the MTA says will deter crime.
The 7th Avenue Station is one of 20 Brooklyn subways that will have cameras. The MTA says the video will help the agency track crime and hopefully reduce it. The project will cost an estimated $20 million.
While some commuters believe the system will work, straphanger Denise Cataudella feels New Yorkers still need to be aware of their surroundings. The New York Civil Liberties Union says it is also concerned about the monitoring.
