Some Parkchester residents, fed up with crime in their neighborhood, have launched a new anti-crime initiative.
The Parkchester Public Safety Initiative was created after several high profile robberies and assaults occurred in the neighborhood.
Members say they hope to empower vulnerable community members like the elderly who have more obstacles to overcome when they are on-the-go.
To help prevent assaults and robberies, the initiative says people should always walk with a buddy, and make sure that someone always knows where you are at all times.
The next public safety meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Raymond auditorium at 6 p.m.
