Police arrested a New York City Department of Parks employee for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl.
Authorities say Edwin Lewis, 50, is accused of behaving inappropriately by harassing the teenager, and on one occasion attempting to kiss her.
Lewis, who was a sports coordinator at St. John?s Recreational Center, was moved to another location, away from minors, after allegations of improper conduct on his part surfaced in April.
The same facility was under fire two years ago, when it was uncovered that one of the volunteers who worked with children was a Level 3 sex offender.
?They said they do an extensive investigation process before they hire someone and check them periodically, so I'm shocked it's still going on,? says parent Charles Pottinger Jr.
According to a Parks Department spokesperson, officials are taking the allegations against Lewis very seriously and are cooperating with authorities.
